We hosted Thanksgiving dinner at our house this year & I can truely say, "What a fabulous day!". The day began with husband, the girls, and myself all having breakfast together. After breakfast, the girls and I, proceeded with our normal morning routine. I wanted Lily to think this day was just like any other day. If she knew we were about to have a house full of people she would have been so excited. There would have been no way to get her to nap and I needed her to nap, for sure. Thank goodness she didn't catch on and when our guests arrived Lily was thrilled. Our guests included family and friends. Frank's parents, his sister and her boyfriend, Wes, Antonio, Giulia, Alessandro, & Lorenzo.
I am from a large family in Oklahoma and so I very much miss the large family gatherings at the holidays, but I have to say this Thanksgiving was a great one to remember. The weather was beautiful so after eating our delicious Thanksgiving meal most everyone walked down to the lake for a little exercise. After hanging out down by the water it was back to the house for the Cowboy's game and to enjoy dessert. Later in the evening we sat around the fire pit, a couple of us drank Prosecco, and watched Frank, Antonio, and the boys toss around the football. And wouldn't you know it Lily wanted to be in the big middle of it all. Lily already had a bath and was ready for bed until she spotted the boys and demanded to go outside and play. So we bundled her up and let her run with the big boys. Needless to say she slept very well that night!
I can't forget our menu.... ham, turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, candied sweet potatoes, bacon wrapped greenbeans, mashed potatoes, gravy, brussell sprouts, risotto, traditional Italian brocolli salad, several different types of bread, rolls, & pies. One of the best parts of hosting Thanksgiving.... leftovers!!!!!
